This woman survived torture and gang rape for speaking out against an attack on Darfur to a group of school children. She remained completely wrapped in clothing as she still fears for her life. Yet, here in the “free world”, she is able to have a discussion with the President of the United States. A simple aesthetic to remind me that while things are hardly perfect, I am deeply grateful to have been born where I was.
